Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors: Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has warned to go on strike from 02 January. The doctors have demanded that they will be forced to go on strike if their demand for filling up vacant posts and clearing pending dues from 2018 is not met.

In a letter to state Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan on Monday, MARD president Dr. Avinash Dahipale demanded the creation of 1,432 posts of senior resident doctors and payment of dearness allowance pending since October 16, 2018.

It has been said in the letter that our first demand is to create 1432 posts of senior resident doctors. If the proposal for the same is still pending with the state government, then why there is a policy of bonded service for resident doctors passing out from government-run colleges? The association has also demanded payment of arrears of dearness allowance pending since October 16, 2018.

“There is no uniformity in the pay of senior resident doctors across the State. The State should intervene and bring uniformity in the pay structure.” MARD further claimed that the posts of associate and assistant professors are vacant in most medical colleges and they need to be filled up to ensure that students are not affected.

The association warned, “If no concrete decision is taken in the ongoing winter session in Nagpur, MARD members will go on strike from January 02.”
