IAS Pratibha Verma’s road was not straightforward, but she persevered and eventually became an inspiration to many.

The life narrative of IAS Pratibha Verma is the epitome of overcoming challenges. Belonging to the small village of Sultanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh, she managed to gain All India third position in the UPSC exam 2019. Even though it seems simple, Pratibha had a difficult and lengthy journey because she frequently became sick while preparing. Pratibha started out as an engineer and later on worked as an IRS officer and an IAS.

Did she attend school in Hindi Medium?
Her language barrier—which was her largest challenge—did not cause her to lose her shine. She traveled to Delhi to do her B.Tech at IIT Delhi after completing classes 10 and 12 under the UP board and under the CBSE board, respectively.

Got a job at a huge company-UPSC AIR 

After earning her B.Tech in 2014, Pratibha was offered a job in the telecom industry with competitive pay. She chose to leave the position after two years and begin studying for the UPSC exam.

Pratibha made the decision to study for the UPSC exam by staying away from home in Delhi after quitting her job in 2016.

Pratibha started working for the IRS.
Pratibha’s first effort ended in failure, and on her second try, she succeeded, earning the 489th position and being chosen for IRS, although becoming an IAS was still her ultimate goal.

Her goal was IAS, despite the fact that she had become an IRS officer. She continued to study for it, and in 2019, on her third try, she was successful in passing the UPSC exam and was appointed an IAS officer.

ongoing ailment
Pratibha had a number of health problems, but she wasn’t worried about them. She contracted dengue in 2018 and typhoid in 2019. All of this made it challenging for her to focus on her schoolwork and the interview. She practiced power yoga, and meditation, and took extra care with her diet after her interview was delayed by two months owing to a coronavirus, and she recovered.
