Harvinder Singh passed the UPSC exam in the year 2018. Today even though he is an IAS officer, his journey has been no less difficult. He had an accident in his childhood.

Lakhs of candidates appear in the UPSC exam every year, but success is achieved only by a select few. In such a situation, many times the candidates feel disappointed. Today we will tell you the story of Harvinder Singh, who had an accident in his childhood and his whole life changed. Harvinder had told that in his childhood his mother had left home and gone somewhere. But when he came inside and saw me, three fingers of my hand were in hot oil.

Harvinder Singh recalls, ‘It was a major accident and after that, I could never straighten my three fingers. I wanted to join the army since childhood. I gave NDA exam for the first time. I was successful in the first attempt, but I was dropped in the medical. There I was advised to undergo an operation and it would be fine. I gave the NDA exam again and got the surgery done.

Harvinder Singh had told that he was out for the second time, ‘He had cleared the NDA exam for the second time as well. But at that time stitches were visible in my hand, so it came out again for the second time. After this I did engineering, but I could not get a job. Shortly after graduation, I got a job as a civil engineer. Then my father used to do farming and also used to drive part-time trucks when he got time.

It was during his job that Harvinder Singh decided to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. But there was definitely a question of not leaving the job in front of him. He was out of prelims on the first attempt itself. He reached the Mains on the second attempt but could not clear it. For the third attempt, he started working on his mistakes, as he had been told this was his last attempt. Finally, he got successful on the third attempt. He got 355th rank and got selected for IAS.

Harvinder got the Jammu and Kashmir cadre and is currently serving here. When Harvinder was asked about his success, he said that you can achieve success with these two things, belief in yourself and hard work.
