APPSC Exam Scam Question Paper Leak Case: CBI conducted searches at nine places in Arunachal Pradesh in connection with the investigation into alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
According to the official statement issued by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday, during the raids conducted on Wednesday, the probe agency has recovered several incriminating documents and articles related to the case. The team also seized handwritten questions from the Arunachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) 2016, the statement said.
The central agency had on January 6 registered a case in connection with all the alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission since 2014.
Notably, the CBI had filed a charge sheet against 11 people in the APPSC question paper leak case in December last year. The case was initially investigated by the police and later transferred to the Special Investigation Cell of the northeastern state. On October 27, 2022, the CBI took over the investigation after the state government recommended an investigation by the central agency.
The central agency had also conducted raids at 16 places in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh on November 3 last year in connection with the state PSC question paper leak for the 2021 exam of Assistant Engineer (Civil).
The paper leak incident came to light when a candidate lodged a complaint last year on August 29, 2022, at Itanagar police station suspecting a paper leak in the Assistant Engineer (Civil) exam. More than 400 candidates appeared in the examination held on August 26 and 27, 2022.
