Engineer Meera K. left her lucrative job to pursue a career in the civil service.
In 2016, Meera graduated from Government Engineering College in Thrissur with a B Tech in mechanical engineering.

She was chosen on campus for a job in Bengaluru. But she had a tendency to work in government.

Without much preparation, she took the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the first time in 2017. The outcome was as anticipated: failed to qualify.

She become more focused and began to consider really preparing for the UPSC CSE. She left her lucrative career.

She didn’t, though, board a plane for Delhi. Instead, she returned to Kerala to begin her UPSC preparation.

In Kerala, Meera enrolled in a few private institutions. She preferred certain optional subjects, general studies, and even test series.

She joined coaching, although she wasn’t totally reliant on it.

She always had confidence in herself and sought to come up with a plan of action based on her advantages and disadvantages.

She passed the preliminary and main exams on her second try. However, she was not entirely fortunate. She almost missed being chosen for the job by 12 marks.

She had more bad luck on the third try as well. She only missed Prelims this time by one mark.

Meera became considerably more tenacious as a result of the setbacks.

To ensure that the Prelims would never again be a roadblock in her progress, she enrolled in the ClearIAS Prelims Online Mock Test Series.

She passed the Prelims, Mains, and Interview in her fourth attempt, earning an All-India Rank of 6 and becoming the UPSC Topper!

“My mum had encouraged me to attempt the exam. She used to advise me to join the civil service because it had a lot to do with the public even while I was pursuing my engineering degree. I was forced to consider it due to her ongoing drive. This is my fourth try, and I’m very thrilled,” Meera added.
