Ishita Rathi, a Delhi resident who placed eighth in this year’s UPSC, attributes her desire to serve the nation to her parents, who are police officers. Despite two failed efforts, she continued because she wanted to help India.

Ishita Rathi, a Delhi resident and the daughter of two Delhi police officers who scored Rank 8 in this year’s UPSC mains, revealed that she first began dreaming of serving her country while admiring her parents.

The 26-year-old, who passed the UPSC exam on her third try, said she wants to work for women’s emancipation in the nation because she thinks “only if the women are developed in a country, the country’s growth continues.”

Ishita claimed that since the release of the UPSC CSE 2021 results, her world has been weird. She claimed that learning that her name was among the top 10 surprised her. “This test is quite unpredictable. Every try varies greatly from the previous attempt.

Therefore, it is impossible to know which technique was successful until the final findings are out. Like many other aspirants, the journey has been challenging for me. I didn’t anticipate getting such a high rank, and I wasn’t even sure I’d make it to the finals, but I did, which surprised me.

Ishita, who received her postgraduate degree in economics from the Madras School of Economics, claimed she decided against taking any test preparation classes. When discussing her preparation, she stated, “While I did not take any coaching, I did take mentorship for my optional subject (economics).”

She shares her experiences with self-study in the following way: “After glancing at the curriculum, I concluded that these topics can be addressed on my own. Students can now independently study for exams using a wealth of free resources that are readily available.

She developed plans by listening to the winners of past years. Referring to the NCERTs will help candidates understand the fundamentals of several disciplines because they are very well written, such as geography and politics.

It is beneficial to supplement them with current affairs and newspaper reading. I also used well-known UPSC study guides like Laxmikant for politics and Spectrum for history. I generally used the materials that the majority of toppers recommend, and it was beneficial to me. But the secret to all of his was frequent modifications, making notes and going back and forth on them.
